I must admit, I purchased Jazzin' The Blues about two years ago now and I still haven't gone through it. On a quick glance through the pages it's easy to see it follows a similar theme to Blues You Can Use, which is basically a lot of example lessons. Whereas I stated in my previous reviews for Blues You Can Use and More Blues You Can Use the concept of the books were based around example lessons of full length solos without overpowering you with too much theory and unnecessary text.
On a quick glance, Jazzin' The Blues seems to follow on using the same concept to create the lessons but even though there's plenty of examples to work with, there is also a lot more text and explanation. Given the genre, this probably isn't a bad thing and a quick skim read through the pages it appears not to be overdone and easy to follow. The audio examples all sound very good and I can't wait to find some time to work through them myself, there's a lot I am going to learn with these examples to add some variety to my own playing. And finally ... The jam tracks on the accompanying CD are now with and without the solo. This was the only thing that let down the other two books and most certainly a great move.
