Hey Lee,
I know – who the hell plays that old music now?
Well, I like both and am wondering if you might have any tips on how to use the Pentatonic Scale Fluency book to build skills toward these styles. I’ve worked with the book off and on over the last year I think so am familiar with the material
Maybe a dumb question, I don’t know. I have the 5 pentatonic box positions under my fingers (I know you don’t like to think of it that way) but don’t really know where to go next.
I’m still a beginner in a lot of ways so that’s probably why I’m struggling to connect theory with actual music.
Thanks for any tips.
Jason
I don’t really play this kind of music often but I do like it. I’ve only ever dabbled with rockabilly so couldn’t really get into the details – you can still do a lot with the basics though. As a beginner you’ll be better just sticking with basic stuff which I would say is probably going to be more riff and chord tone based rather than the ideas in the Pentatonic book, at least for the basics anyway.
This will be too involved for a simple answer here. Give me a day or two to think about it, maybe I can write up a short article about it.
New lesson up.
Better late than never! 🙂

This is already helpful. Thanks Lee!
If you do get a chance to write something up I would appreciate it.
I’m the original poster- made an account.
