OK. I got my guitar, I got an amp and I got a new computer(PC), but I am so out of the loop on how to plug into my computer and record. I don’t know about what software I need or what is best to use and I don’t know what I need to plug into my PC. I would really appreciate if someone / anyone would point me in the right direction. Thanks ahead of time and keep playing!
Your options are endless for something like this. If you’ve never done anything like this before then prepare for a fair bit of learning. It might be worth asking in a Facebook group, something like the Home Recording group. Or post at somewhere like Gearslutz. I’ll give you a very quick option of what I would advise, based purely on my opinion.
Get something like a Presonus Audiobox for under $100.

You can plug your guitar directly into this or you could also buy a microphone and use it to record the amp.
The main reason I would recommend this is because it comes with Studio One Artist which is very usable. The big thing for me is the copy protection. With studio one you get something like 5 activations which you have control of yourself. You can delete them and recreate new ones.
Although I am mostly a Cubase user, the company deserves zero respect from paying customers. If you use something like Cubase Elements or LE supplied with a Steinberg interface, then you will need to beg for forgiveness and possibly be forced to use a dongle (which you pay extra for) if ever your computer goes down and Cubase needs reloading. Also their customer service is nothing short of disgraceful, most of the time.
There really are so many options you can use it’s hard to give advice. The Presonus interface is not bad, quite cheap, includes everything you will need except for a microphone and you won’t have such a hard time with activation and copy protection.
Some people will recommend using any interface and combine it with Reaper. I’m personally not a fan but you could also try that approach.
Wow! So great of you to reply. And with some awesome info. as well. I agree that I need to do some learning. You have definitely helped out and for that I am very thankful. Have a good one, Lee.
Cheers.
