so the way i understand it that a major chord is formed by 1-3-5th notes of the scale, and if we add a note we put the number of that note in the scale beside the scale name E.G adding the seventh note in the C scale (B) is called C7, and the notes are C-E-G-B, but when i checked the second position of the C7 chord starting with the seventh note on the high E string, the notes aren\’t CEGB, they are in fact C# F# F G#. Can you help me clear that out?
Is this something you have found on this website or in any of my books? If so, could you point me in the right direction so that I can check.
Either way, it sounds to me like you have your major and dominant chords confused. C7 is a dominant 7 chord therefore the notes should be C, E, G, Bb.
C, E, G, B on the other hand would be the notes for a CM7 (major 7th) chord.
I’m not sure where you are seeing C#,F#,F,G#? Let me know and I’ll be able to help you further.
