Hello Lee,
i bought both your books and i can only say that they are underpriced and underratet.
Thanks to your uncomplicated and direct explanations of things i am getting grip of the fretboard, at last!.
I have a question:
what is recommended when going up and down the fretboard, fretnumbers or notes?
Thanks and regards
Salvatore from Germany
Hi Salvatore, thanks for the kind words.
Notes are definitely the most important, the quicker you can find a root note, the quicker you can navigate your way around. Fret numbers will just come to you as part of learning the notes but I don’t think they’re important.
On the other hand, knowing things like a b7 is two frets down or a m3rd is three frets up – things like that are important. The more you know, the better but just learn in your own time. You don’t need to know the entire fretboard inside out to be a good guitarist, it just all helps.
