What’s up guys, I’m a newbie on the pedal world, I always had multi pedal effects and now I’m entering a phase where I want to get a better sounding set. So I have compression, delay/reverb, chorus and graphic equalizer, which In many diagrams I see people connecting them directly on the send and return on the head and cabinet amp, separated from the input line, now how can I replicate that sound if I have a combo amp with 1 input slot?
Thank you all!
Best,
If you only have one input then it can’t be done. Looping through an amp means inserting the pedals somewhere between the amp’s pre-amp and main power stages so the amp needs to cater for that. The only option is to mod the amp, probably not worth the bother or expense unless you can do it yourself.
In my opinion it’s overrated anyway. You can still get a decent sound with the pedals before the amp. If you are playing live you have many other factors that will alter the tone or muddy the sound more so than the subtleties of passing through the effects loop. If you are recording then I don’t see that much of an issue either because you can insert delays and reverb into the recording chain, post amp. All personal opinion I guess.
I understand, thank you so much for the answer!
I think at this point is worth it to get a better amp if I have this bunch of pedals and a decent guitar. Mod the amp seems complex and very involved, and probably jeopardizes the finish guarantee.
Thanks again!
