Hey there Lee one question about the major and minor scales since you’ve provided us with two types of the scales that is 3 notes per string and the caged system ok now the question Are these shapes movable that is if I learn one shape of the C major scale scale can I move it to a different root and get a different scale? Help me break it down brother
You can move absolutely any scale that does not use open strings. Wherever you move the root to, that’s your new scale, as long as you move the root along the same string. So in other words, any scale without open strings can be moved horizontally, but not vertically because of the tuning offset at the B string.
That’s exactly it. A scale’s notes are determined by fixed intervals from the root note. If you move a fixed shape pattern, the intervals remain fixed.
So lee basically you’re saying that if I move the C major scales first position that starts on the first fret onto the second fret would it be the C# major scales box and moving it further would give me a D major scale is that what you’re implying here?
