Hi-
I’m getting bogged down understanding a chord symbol I’m seeing. In particular, the following: “D-9”. I can’t figure out if this is a D chord with a flatted ninth or a D minor with an added ninth (neither chord I’m familiar with). Can someone please translate the chord symbol “D-9”?

It’s used more often in jazz and Real / Fake books. It simply means “minor”.
D-9 = Dm9
Chord formula 1 b3 5 b7 9

Sometimes you will see it used in place of flat, e.g.
C7-5 = C7b5
