Just trying to work thru some scale theory and was wondering if a pentatonic scale has 5 notes to it why then do all the different box positions have 12 notes to them (just a bit confusing ) Thanks

They don’t. Each position will still have the same five notes so you have something confused.
Can you give me an example?

hi mate thanks for getting back to me … what i mean is there appears 2 positions of notes on the 6 strings so that’s 12 or are they the same note but just a different octave IDK i know it probably seems a pretty basic and dumb question but i find some aspects of this a bit hard to follow the logic But thanks again for your answer great site btw !!!!
