I needed an F#dim as part of an A Dorian song.
I had learned this inversion some time ago.

Sounds great but I can’t find it in your book or any other chord reference
What is it if not a diminished chord?

Kinda, you have the formula right but that would make it half diminished (m7b5), not diminished 7. It could also be Am6 (same notes, different order).
You can mess around with the reverse chord finder. Doesn’t work for every possibility but will find most.
