Hi! I see alot about a major and minor pentatonic. I leaned to play alotof gospel songs in the key of g. Which had g c and d as the 1,4,5 chords… So my question is this… Suppose you are playing amazing grace in key of g. Using g major pentatonics obviously. But when the song progresses to a c or d chord, do you also have to switch up and use c and d pentatonic scales or do you just use the g major pentatonics throughout the entire song? Pleas eemail me a response to [removed] Thanks
It’s all just G major, however you approach it. You could just use G major pentatonic throughout, or you could use the G major scale.
You could also use G major pentatonic over G, C major pentatonic over C and D major pentatonic over D – but that would still be the G major scale, just a different way of going about it.
If you take the notes from all three of those major pentatonic scales and put them together, the result would just be the G major scale.
