hello
i always see people on youtube teaching to play power chords in verse of hey joe (second chord, first being with the thumb over the neck)
my question is why not play them like that, isnt that more hendrix style? i believe chord should be D
there must be some(way outta here..)… i mean some reason why do they teach it like that, with power chords? or did i see wrong people on youtube?

can you tell my why no one teaches the second way?
My opinion is to learn the stuff the best you can but don’t get too hung up on trying to get it 100% exact. It can be an endless task an not always the best use of your time.
If you want to really get into Hendrix style I would maybe suggest trying out the Licklibrary DVD’s. I haven’t seen the Hendrix ones myself but they are by Danny Gill, I’ve got quite a lot of his stuff and it’s all top notch. Probably well worth checking out.
